So, Where Did This Story Come From?

As a kid, I was restlessly curious and creative. The idea of other universes where magic and unicorns were real was something that entertained me and my playmates as children and gave me a source of escapism as a teenager. For a short period of time as a seven-year-old, I was convinced that one Christmas a magical necklace would come to me and allow me to teleport to a world of my own imagination.
Imagine my shock when I learned Santa wasn't real, and the embarrassment of realizing my poor confused parents had read my letters to Santa ranting about some magic necklace. Even after that, the idea of the world I created, called Avukena, persisted with me. I started creating short stories about the world, and drawing pictures and shopping catalogs of items one might find there. Eventually, based on a loose plot based on saving the world, A Universe Gone Awry was created. I worked on it every day of COVID-19 lockdown that I could and talked about it to anyone who would listen. Eventually, lockdown was lifted, and the project disappeared into the background of my life for a few years. I rediscovered it freshman year of high school and have been working on it ever since, and the story has changed a lot, though its roots remain the same. I too, have not changed much. I remain restlessly curious and creative, and I will still talk about it to anyone who will listen. Thank you sincerely for being one of those people and coming along this journey with me.
